 Tube, boat sides, toppless, etc
Since I have a good excuse now, I am taking a sawzall to it soon. I want to make it into something that looks good, not like a pile of junk. (Funny thing, the Fourwheeler guy was handing out release forms for people to sign, he never gave one to me, even after I asked him, he said "I already gave you one." After I made it back to the campground with the wreck, he stopped by the camper and gave me a release form to sign! I guess it looked better wheels up than wheels down.) Any way, I need pics and ideas.

If I was going to build a buggy around an already built XJ, it would look like FullsizeXJ's.

Re: Tube, boat sides, toppless, etc
I want to keep with the XJ theme. What makes it an XJ?
I am thinking four seats and possibly four doors. I haven't deiced if the rear leaves are going by by yet or not. I like the boat sides in the grey rig, I like the skin on the red one.
I guy I know has a bunch of race car skin in his garage he will unload cheap. I am thinking about that.
I like Magyar's front end and the rear of the red one.
As far as four link rears, built or bought? What do you recommend?
Oh wait, no one here Wheels.....

Re: Tube, boat sides, toppless, etc
Half doors?
You'll have to keep the stock door jams and pillars. Might be a lot easier to boatside if you get rid of the doors and cut out the rockers.
If you link it in the rear, I would think that cutting out everything behind the seats would make more sense, then some coilovers or something of that nature.
Sounds like there's a lot of tube in your future.

Re: Tube, boat sides, toppless, etc
You can boatside and do half doors. You'll have to cut the bottom of the doors off though.

Re: Tube, boat sides, toppless, etc
My Boatsides line up exactly on the body line in the bottom of the door. Could easily put doors on it.

I am taking a break for a while. I don't have the money for another project and I don't have the room to store this. Yea, I am going to web wheel and drink.....

I went wheeling 3 weeks ago... not in my rig, and not even on the west coast... in New Hampshire... This friday I'm going to order the true-hi-9, and one paycheck after that axle shafts, and one paycheck after that, u-joints. Then I ought to be able to get out again.
